How this site handles your data
Last updated 1 November 2026.
This website is run by The People Hacker. It is a small site: it has no forms, no accounts and no shop, so very little personal data is involved. This page says exactly what there is.
What I collect
Nothing, unless you accept analytics. If you click “Accept analytics” on the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 records which pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and what device and browser you use. I use this only to see which articles are read and to improve them. I do not use it for advertising, and I do not combine it with anything that identifies you.
If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set.
Cookies
Only analytics cookies are used, and only with your consent:
- _ga: tells Google Analytics apart one visitor from another. Lasts up to two years.
- _ga_E1BVGFVR7W: keeps track of your session. Lasts up to two years.
The site also stores your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage (a key called ph_consent) so the banner does not keep asking. That is not shared with anyone.
Who else handles data
- Google Ireland Limited processes analytics data, but only if you accept.
- Namecheap (EasyWP) hosts the website and sees ordinary server logs, such as your IP address and the page requested.
- Cloudflare provides the site’s DNS and handles requests to the www address, so it also sees ordinary connection data.
- LinkedIn: the articles linked from this site are on LinkedIn, which has its own privacy policy. Messaging me there is governed by it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time using the link above. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish data protection authority, at dataprotection.ie.
